I’ve worked so much this week since I got back from LA, two national commercials, some featured background, some background. its been a good but busy January!

my sleeping habits are all messed up once again, sleeping at 5am, waking up at 8am, working 8-13 hour days. ahh, the life of a working actor. it never ends … but that’s a good thing

Cupcake Adventure – Part 1

with one comment

After a long day of work, I’ve meet up with my friend to travel around the city for a late night cupcake fix. Thank god I live in NY.

Armed with a sweet tooth, a bunch of prime lenses, and a sugar high, this is what the outcome was.

Sugar Sweet Sunshine
Had a pistachio and a Vanilla Dark Chocolate
the pistachio was very frosting was light and very nutty, the cake was fluffy and also filled with nutty goodness. perfect if you love pistachio. The vanilla dark chocolate was frosted with a old fashion butter cream, cake was a super dark and chocolatelly. almost like fudge but with a cakey consistency

Butter lane
At this point thinking about the long night of cupcakes ahead, we only got one cupcake haha
Chocolate Tangerine on a vanilla cake. I liked this! the cake was very very moist and fresh, the frosting, was ok, chocolate with some tangerine oils, sprinkled with tangerine infused sugar

Chickalicous
was just… ok, I’ve been a chi-ca follower since her first place, and now i feel shes just expanding to much and quality has went down in her other spaces. Had a pumpkin and a black and white. They were both ok, nothing terrible, just nothing remember-able.

The list of cupcake places in nyc goes on and on, just off the top of my head… babycakes, magnolias, crumbs, etc etc etc…. more next time. and as always a sprinkle of random pictures

I miss you Maui.

I miss how you would always cuddle up in the bed with me,
I miss how you would always end up at the foot of the bed because i held you to tight,
I miss how you would always wait up for me when i came home late,
I miss how you would sneak around and hop on to the bed when no one was looking,
I miss you, you little fur ball.

See you soon

I’m going going back back to Cali Cali

JFK – LAX!

California!

Something about the California life style draws me in, the mix of city and beaches.  Space to breath, space to wiggle your toes, space to grow.  “I’m going going back back to Cali Cali”  … Well only for a few days for a Print Ad, then back to NYC for another.  Hope I have some free time!

gotta keep hustling!,  someone asked me, how come its so easy for me to book gigs, i tell them its not easy, i’m working 24/7.   I always have my eye open, while working, while at the bar, while having dinner, and even as i was updating this blog.

some random iPhone pictures, (note. not a real dog fight)

You know that feeling when…

leave a comment »

… leave home for awhile and then come home and feel sorta empty?

Well, I do.  Just got back from my SF LA SF trip.  That post vacation emptiness has hit me, from being surrounded by friends to an empty shell I have called a home.   Home is just a home for me now,  I thought I would be spending some time with friends this weekend but auditions and gigs are calling out to me.  I cant (shouldn’t) be turning down any gigs since im just starting out and i should be so lucky to even get call backs.

LA and SF has recharged me and has left me wanting more!  From meeting up with all of my socal / norcal buddies, to new friends and hobbies!  I’ve said this before, NY will always be home,  but CA is calling me.  I’ll be back in a few days for another shoot but its going to be really short and ill probably spend a good amount of my time in a sound stage and back on the plane.   Good news is with past few weeks alone I’ve already accumulated enough points for a one way trip.  Maybe that’s all i’ll need!

I leave you with some random pictures from the week in CA.  Wish i had time to do some color correction, maybe next time.

On an unrelated note Valentines Day is coming up.  Luckily its also Chinese New Years, at least I’ll be making some money on V-day this year.

Di Fara’s + Baked NYC

leave a comment »

Di Fara’s

What can I say, I love Di’ Fara’s.  I remember the first time i went there, it was a summer night.  I show up around 7pm thinking that i would be home in time to watch Simpsons.  Boy was I wrong, 2 1/2 hours after placing my order I got a taste of heaven.

You arrive, everyone is chatting about pizza.  You hear some whispers about timeout ny, chowhound, slice.com, eater.com, this place has so much word of mouth advertisement that would survive even if it was shut down by the DOH.  Oh wait, it was closed, several times.  Guess what? it doesn’t stop the fans of Di Fara’s.  Going to Di Fara’s is like a pilgrimage to Mecca.  Once you step in that door it all begins.  You have your photographers in the front.  Regulars chatting with Dom and whoever’s working that day, usually his son or daughter.  New comers confused about how to order since there is no line just a mob of people.  People sitting in the limited space shoving their face with pizza.  People guarding tables with their life waiting for pizza to be ready.  And you have the people who are complaining about the wait.

I read a quote while waiting myself … it was something like this ” In the city of new york, no one likes waiting but at Di Fara’s you will find real new yorkers that are willing to wait hours for a pie”.   Watching him spreading the dough, pouring the sauce, hand cutting cheese just before the pie goes in to the hot oven.  He slides puts on some EVOO just before putting it in.  When the pie is done he puts his bare hands in the oven and takes out the pizza.  thats right, its cooked to “perfection” rustic some might say, sometimes oddly shaped, sometimes a little burnt on the corners.  But out of the open and on to a pan, he hand cuts some basil and grates some fresh Parmesan on top.  smiles and says , this one is for you.  The crowd around you all watching closely some even congratulating you on getting your pizza.

You bring your pie to your table of eager mouths.  Like baby birds with mouth wide open waiting for momma bird to return.   i sprinkle some oregano on it, consume it with all my five senses.  Then silence. all is at peace.  Hearing the slice crunch when  folded, feeling the bottom of the slice noticing how thin it is, looking at that slice and all of its oily goodness glisten, smelling all of the imported fresh ingredients, and finally tasting the symphony of flavors all bursting at a crescendo.

sorry i got a little to carried away, then everyone starts talking, sipping on a Manhattan special and where to go next.   now this is only how i feel, there are a lot of skeptics, and people who wouldn’t wait again for a slice of di fara’s.  But thats your opinion.  Mines is, this man is the last of a dying art.  Once he is gone there will no longer be Di Fara’s.  And like a Picasso he will be a legend for many lifetimes ahead.

oh.. and then i went to baked in redhook, it was ok… hahaha try the spicy hot chocolate (its from jacques torres).  Wait, just go to jacques torres next time instead =)

Hello Hello,

I’ve neglected you, I’m sorry.

Well since the beginning of the year all I’ve been doing is working.  From doing some sports anchoring to some tv work and casting calls.  Tomorrow I’m off to SF for a short film, I jumped on it when they said they will cover air and hotel.  Should be a quick but interesting few days before i’m off to LA for some R&R with my west coast friends!

Here are some more random pictures of whats been going on in the past week

2010, you surprise me everyday.
