Making it in NYC

Just do it already.

Double rainbows have nothing on Heirloom tomatoes.

So today was an eventful day, I had a really good call back for a big commercial print campaign.  After that I got a haircut and grab some quick-lunch.  Washed it down with a coffee from La Colombe.  It was GOOD!  But I wish more coffee places would start using ice cubes made from extra strong coffee so it wont dilute the drink.  I love the vibe of this place, no menus, no big signs with a billion complicated drinks.  You go in, order whatever you want.  You pay, they give you the lid for your drink and you step down and wait.

Union Sq Farmers Market
While walking around on a cloudy day in union sq the last thing i expected to see was bright colors.  But its tomato season!  Non of the stay fresh genetically modified red-ish things that stay fresh for weeks but taste like bland mush.  Heirloom tomatoes in every color you could imagine.   I’ve become a lover of whats in season.  As i walked down the farmers market, i see professional chefs, foodies with cameras, and parents all thinking one thing “What’s for dinner”.   I guess having the luxury of spending your late afternoon picking out fresh produce for dinner isn’t something everyone can do.   But sometimes you just have to do it.  I thought about making a fresh caprese salad, canning some of them for the winter, or just biting in to one like an apple.   yumm

A quick walk to Kiehl’s for some bottle recycling.  I had no idea if you bring back your empties they let you trade them in for Kiehl’s products.  Good marketing strategy.  It drags you back in to purchase more stuff and load up on samples! haha

My Favorite place to end the night.
What is it about cupcakes that just make you want to smile?  Especially hazelnut chocolate frosted ones.

Interview with another agency tomorrow! Fingers Crossed!
